J&K Industries Limited, a State Owned Company incorporated in
October, 1963, having authorized share capital of Rs.20.00 Crores, is presently
managing 16 manufacturing units.
The main objective/functions of the company as per its Memorandum and Articles
of Association aims to run, manufacture and administer the State Industrial
Undertaking in a manner that would ensure their economical working.
At the time of the setting up of the corporation, the most of the units were
lying closed, Plant and Machinery had been gutted in fire and in many cases it
had become obsolete and lost its efficiency. The JKI managed to revive these
units to make them economically viable.
As a result of strenuous efforts of revival, the JKI succeeded in establishing
following additional factories in the State:
1. Govt. Bemina Woollen Mills. 1970
2. Govt. R&T Factory Sunderbani 1974
3. Govt. R&T Factory, Rajouri 1974
4. Joinery Mills Baibrahmana, Jammu. 1975
5. Shoddy Spinning Mills. 1995
In the year 1976 the Ply board Industries at Pampore, earlier in joint sector, was transferred to JKI under Industrial Development (Regulation) Act for its management.
